Bull Mountain Builders, Inc. is a licensed general contractor specializing in custom home new construction and remodels. Bull Mountain Builders consists of Shawn Feehery (owner/president), an in-house crew of skilled carpenters/laborers, and a network of qualified subcontractors specializing in their own particular trade.
The company is named after Bull Mountain, where owner/president lives. Supposedly, the last eastern buffalo in the state of North Carolina was killed here in 1799.
Our Building Principles.
Efficiency: We prefer to build energy-efficient homes. Prior to construction, we make a plan for the build to achieve our energy-efficiency goals. We consider the assembly as a whole and how each aspect will work together to achieve an optimal level of energy-efficiency. We regularly employ practices such as open and closed-cell spray foam, airsealing, and high-effeciency mechanical equipment.
Healthy Living: We consider the health of the home from the start of the project. We consider the health implications of each product we use in construction, and strive to use products that will ensure a healthy indoor environment for our clients. We frequently use fresh-air ventilation, crawl-space encapsulation and dehumidifcation to ensure clean and safe air.
Durabilty: We build with the future in mind. We consider best practices in each application to ensure your build is built to last. Within design parameters, we build to maximize resilience against the elements (moisture, mold, insects, etc.) to ensure your home will last.
Aesthetic: At each aspect of the project, we build with the end appearance in mind. We tend to use high-quality assemblies and high-quality finishes throughout the build.
Craftsmanship: Everything we do is informed by an ethos of time-tested craftsmanship. We take pride in our trades and the experiential knowledge and wisdom of how to do things "right".

President and Owner
Shawn has enjoyed calling southern Appalachia his home since he moved to western North Carolina in 2009 to attend Warren Wilson College. Before founding Bull Mountain Builders Inc. in 2020, he worked as a skilled carpenter/builder for over a decade in Asheville and southern West Virginia. His years of hands-on experience coupled with his passion for high-quality craftsmanship is what propels the company towards unmatched excellence. Aside from building, Shawn's passions include health and fitness, hunting and homesteading, trees and all-things wood, and spending time with his family and community.
